The 1.0 settings that actually cost you frames
July 27, 2026
Most "low everything" guides throw away image quality for
settings that were never expensive. These are the ones that actually move the
number, roughly in order of how much they give back.
Turn off entirely:
- SSR (screen space reflections). Expensive, and it mostly reflects things you
are not looking at.
- HBAO. Ambient occlusion is the single biggest free win in this game.
- Grass shadows. Costs frames on Woods, Customs, Shoreline and Lighthouse and
changes almost nothing you can see.
Turn down, but not to the floor:
- Shadows quality: Low. Off is not an option worth taking — shadows are how you
spot someone before you see them.
- Object LOD quality: 2. Higher barely helps; lower pops geometry in at ranges
you actually fight at.
- Overall visibility: 2500. This is a draw distance, not a render setting, and
dropping it below about 2000 starts hiding people on the long lanes of
Lighthouse and Streets.
- Clouds quality: Low.
Leave alone or turn up:
- Texture quality: High, if you have the VRAM. Textures live in video memory and
cost frame time close to nothing. Dropping them is the classic wasted sacrifice.
- Anisotropic filtering: On. Nearly free on any card made this decade.
Display and latency:
- Fullscreen, not borderless. Borderless costs you a frame of latency for
nothing unless you alt-tab constantly.
- V-Sync off.
- NVIDIA Reflex: On + Boost.
For scale, BLAST.tv measured 130–144 fps on an RTX 3080 at 1440p on Customs with
roughly this configuration. That is their machine on their map, not a promise
about yours — the ordering above is the transferable part, not the number.
