Patch 1.1.0.0 tore up how you unlock the Collector task, and with it the Kappa container. The old route — clear essentially every trader's task line, then hand Fence a wall of found-in-raid collectibles — is gone. What replaced it asks for standing with all eight traders instead of a checklist.
The rework, the Loyalty Level requirement and the achievement change are quoted from the official 1.1.0.0 patch notes. The exact numbers below them are not in those notes — they come from the community and are labelled where they appear. Where nothing reliable exists, this page says so instead of guessing.
What Battlestate actually changed
Three lines from the patch notes do most of the work. Quoted rather than paraphrased, because each one invalidates advice that is still sitting in older guides:
- “Removed the required trader sales volume from Loyalty Level requirements” — this is the big one. Loyalty Level used to be part spending. It is not any more.
- “Rebalanced the reputation requirements for all Loyalty Levels” for Prapor, Therapist, Fence, Skier, Peacekeeper, Mechanic, Ragman and Jaeger, and “reputation rewards from side tasks have also been adjusted”.
- “Rebalanced the character level requirements for all Loyalty Levels” of the same traders.
So a Loyalty Level is now two things: your character level, and your reputation with that trader. Nothing else. Existing characters were not left stranded — the notes say reputation values “have been recalculated based on the new requirements” for both PvP and PvE characters.
If you read the old advice, unlearn this one thing. Buying from a trader to push Loyalty Level no longer does anything for Loyalty Level. Spend money because you want the item, not because you are farming a gate that no longer exists.
How reputation moves now
Reputation is the gate, so how you earn it is the whole game. The patch notes describe a reworked side-task system:
- Most side tasks are now tied to a specific Trader Loyalty Level, and arrive in groups of 2–4 per trader.
- To unlock the next group you either finish several tasks at the current Loyalty Level, or reach the next one.
- “The primary rewards for these tasks are now money, experience, and Trader reputation.”
Read that together with the Collector change and the season's shape becomes clear: the tasks you do are no longer a list to be completed, they are the mechanism that raises reputation. BSG's stated goal is “to make progression less linear and less dependent on specific tasks”. There is no longer one correct order.
Fence is the exception worth planning around, because Fence reputation does not come from side tasks at all — it moves with Scav play and with how you behave as a Scav. If Fence is your weakest trader, that is a different activity from everything else on this page, and it is not one you can leave to the last week.
The numbers, and where they come from
These are the figures the community consistently reports. They are not in the patch notes. Treat them as a plan, and check the task screen in game before betting a week on them:
- Loyalty Level 4 with every trader. Widely reported and consistent across sources.
- Fence reputation 3.0, counted separately.
- Player level 40. Lower than the old path effectively demanded, because the level used to arrive as a side effect of a much longer task list.
- Four surviving tasks: Chemical – Part 4 (Skier), A Shooter Born in Heaven (Mechanic), The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4 (Jaeger), Sew It Good – Part 4 (Ragman).
One thing nobody has pinned down. Whether Collector still asks for a hand-in of found-in-raid collectibles, and how many, is not stated in the patch notes and is not agreed on in the coverage. The old task wanted 41. Until somebody reaches the task under the new rules and reports what it asks for, this page will not put a number on it. If you get there first, tell us.
The achievement changed name
Straight from the notes, and worth reading carefully if you care about your profile:
- The Kappa Path can no longer be earned, starting with Season 1.
- Completing Collector now grants Dawn of a New Era instead.
- Anyone who already has The Kappa Path keeps it in their in-game profile. It stops being displayed on Steam, which the notes explain is deliberate: it lets players “continue earning 100% achievement completion”.
So the original is closed. There is no route to it now, and no amount of progress reopens it.
What this means for a season
The old Kappa was a completionist project: one enormous list, done in roughly one order, mostly at the end. The new one is a spread. Eight traders each need to reach the same level of standing, and the thing that raises standing is playing tasks at whichever trader is currently behind.
- Track the laggard, not the total. Kappa now gates on your worst trader. Time spent on a trader already at Loyalty Level 4 buys nothing toward it.
- Start Fence early. It is the one bar that does not move when you do tasks, so it is the one that strands people.
- Do not hoard for a checklist. The four surviving tasks are the only fixed requirements anybody has identified. Stockpiling for the old 41-item hand-in is, at best, betting on an unconfirmed number.
- Level 40 is not the constraint. If the reported figures hold, reputation across eight traders will arrive well after level 40 does.
The old route — the full trader checklist and the 41-item hand-in — is no longer written up here. It stopped being instructions the day 1.1.0.0 landed, and a guide to a path nobody can walk is a page that only misleads. If you were mid-run when the patch dropped, the progress is not wasted: everything you did raised trader reputation, and reputation is what the new gate reads.
